white__slice

…is not a gallery, not a museum, not an art space, and certainly not a slice of toast. It is the idea of offering young artists — especially graduates and up-and-coming talents — a space to showcase their work. “Slice” is to be taken literally: a shop window in the heart of Zurich’s Kreis 4 district. Far removed from the established art world, it reaches a diverse, urban audience. For some, it is an accessible encounter with contemporary young art; for others, it is an opportunity to present their work to the public and bring it to life. 

Branding
White Slice, as the opposite of “white cube gallery,” describes the narrow space in which the artworks are presented. The logo that was developed from this concept perfectly captures the narrow space with its very neutral typography and the underscore. Other visual elements and the color palette take a back seat in order to give the artworks as much attention as possible.

Editions
Four artistic positions per year are planned. These editions will be paired with events related to the artists. Communication will be via social media.

Website
After viewers scan the QR code in front of the real window, they are taken directly to the same exhibited works. The media switch is based on high recognition. By scrolling, you can move through the works and descriptions of the artists. Past exhibitions are collected in the archive in the same manner. Otherwise, there is only one other menu item: About. This is kept brief – the user should engage with the works and the artists.

Last but not least, we have designed some amazing T-shirts and sophisticated stickers.
